a little about her
Nancy Chávez ‘Mikizollin’ is a first-generation Mexica-na, punk chava born in Fernandeño-Tataviam Tongva territory, with deep roots from Tepehuan and Raramuri lands in Chihuahua and Durango, Mexico. She is blessed to learn through her family relations, traditions and culture the gifts of the elements and guardians of the lands. The respect and confidence inherited from them has left her with a passion to continue weaving her dreams whileliving interconnected to the land with honor and gratitude.
Nancy is a Licensed Esthetician in California certified in Clinical Esthetics and Aroma-therapeutic oils by Concepts Institute of Advanced Esthetics. She has studied western plant medicine at California School for Herbal Studies, and the Herbal Medics Academy. Nancy is a comadrona with Roots of Labor Birth Collective offering full-spectrum ‘doula’ support. She has completed the Pregnancy Loss and Group Facilitator training with the Institute for the Study of Birth, Breath, and Death, an Indigi-Lactation Counselor training with IMMC, the Lactation Educator Specialist course at Santiago Canyon College, as well as workshops offered by La Matriz Birth Services. Nancy Chavez is a CERTIFIED HEALTHCARE INTERPRETER™ (Spanish) professional.
She continues to attend trainings on plant medicine, skin care, traditional therapies, perinatal support, language access, cultural competence, community care and advancements in wholistic health.
Mikizollin believes in empowering new parents to create the process and birthing experience they desire in a dignified manner. She is committed to create a safe space, positive experience and nurturing environment for the birthing person and family. Mikizollin cherishes every opportunity to build new relations. She feels a deep satisfaction accompanying her clients during these intimate and sacred processes.
